Hi all
So got my smart meter fitted and was looking to get the ohme home pro charger. I have done a bit of research and from what I can work out it's not 100% compatible with the MG5?
I want to be able to view the state of charge on my phone and set the charger via my phone to start charging at a certain time. I'm open to suggestions if you know of a better/ cheaper charger.
TIA
Mick

The PreFacelift has no way of getting the current SOC although usually Ohme will let you set a rough % to add (I had an Ohme go and had to do that a few times when it couldn't talk to my previous car(s)

So if the car is on 25% I can tell the ohme to add 75,% ?
Yep that's right. I have a pre facelift MG5 and the Ohme home pro charger.

I bought the Ohme home pro because I wanted to get on the Octopus Intelligent tariff. It's 7.5p to charge the car during a 6 hour window at night.

Plus Octopus will often give you the cheaper 7.5p tariff for an additional hour or two during the day.

There's a Facebook group for Ohme Ohme EVSE / Intelligent Octopus Tariff Integration Group | Facebook
Would highly recommend joining.

In the 6 hour window how many miles can you add to the car?

6 hours, 7kw per hour. You'll add 42kwh. Capacity of the car (mine is LR) is 57. So around 73%.

Assuming 3 miles per kWh. You should get around 126 miles of range.

If you know your efficiency, just multiply it by 42 and you'll know how many miles an overnight charge will add to the car.

Personally, I've never needed to do more than 200 miles a day in consecutive days charging at home.

So when I'm back from a long trip, two overnight charges will get me back up to 100%.

I often leave my car close to 100% as I drive to work everyday (only 10 miles trip).

Our FL 5 + Ohme Pro: turned off all schedules on the Ohme to make it a dumb charger, set % charge on app to 80% or any other %, plug in charger and away we go. Simples for us.

For scheduled charging, we use the app to set times.

Hi, is it the FL MG5 you are looking at?
Octopus do a four hour overnight tariff Go or 6 hours + IO.
How many miles do you do a day?

You might not get enough in 4 hours on Go so look into IO for 6 + hours or OVO's EV add on.

Have Hypervolt homecharger3 fitted it comes with own app to control it and lock charger remotely, also shows state of charge / cost etc on my phone

Is it fully compatible withe the MG5 pre facelift?
I expect so we have face-lift model and no issues here. Check their website to be sure. We have a local engineer who specialises in EV installations and he recommended this one
