Just interested in peoples thoughts on charging...currently have an Outlander PHEV
which I charge every night. I have an off grid power system with approx. 25kWh of
battery storage. If I had a ZS EV and drive the car to low state of charge I wont be
able to charge the car overnight without depleting my off grid storage and lose
all power to the house.
My thoughts are to treat a potential MG ZS EV if I bought one, like the Outlander
and charge every night to maintain battery level. My typical daily usage would be
about 30-60km per day. The reasoning here is that if we have very inclement
weather and solar production suffers, I should have charge for a few days travel.
Most of the time however I get enough solar to cover every days 30-60km range.
So just wondering if this excessive charging would lead to any detrimental
effects on battery life.
Great little forum this appears to be ! :)

Sounds good, keep it topped up to about 80 or 90 percent or even 100 if used daily. leaves a few days reserve if needed or if you need a longer journey. :)

When the car displays 100% the actual battery is charged is 93% of its real capacity.
While charging it also reduces current to 3.2amps when it gets to 97%.

The bottom line is that the BMS manages the battery and protects it from over charging.
