I’ve just got my new to me SE LR MG4. Loving it so far!

Going in for its second service this week.

How do I know the cruise control recall/update has been done?

Software says it’s R13

1100R13 is very old ... 1100R40 is the latest, and mine got 1100R38 at 2nd service last November.

If the ACC speed changes by 5 mph for a single tap then the ACC software is old - the update changes this to 1 mph, and 5 mph for a tap-and-hold.

If SC077 has been done (LKA update) then you'll know, because the car won't try and wrench the wheel out of your hands. :)

Thank you! Was wrenched out my hands today!! I’ll have to check the ACC.

Will they update the LKA automatically as a safety issue?

Yes, that will be done under recall.

I imagine you'd have to pay for updated infotainment software, unless you've got a problem with yours.

We got ours updated because the radio would sometimes get stuck and it did not respond but just kept playing the same station.

You might have to book in with them to get updates done, unless you are lucky and they can fit you in.

Will they? Who knows?

Should they? Yes ... it's a Service Campaign, so something that is to be done when the vehicle is presented for a service. I'd suggest making a printed list of issues with the car, such that the dealer can get paid by MG for applying software updates. Some examples:

  • LKA is too aggressive ... SC077 is the recommended fix.
  • ACC slows down excessively in bends and so confuses following drivers, this is a potential safety issue. There is a software fix for this.
  • The phone's Bluetooth connection with the car is erratic and often needs to be re-paired. (This usually leads to an Infotainment software update to fix it, which is what you want).
  • The HVAC performs poorly and needs to be set several degrees higher to achieve a comfortable temperature. (There's an HVAC module update, which aligns with 1100R38, and I presume R40 too, which makes HVAC work very well now - at least in my car it does).
