For those who just want a "normal" cycle rack and not one that sits on the tow bar (that you must not fit).

Could I/you just fit one of those cycle racks that just clamps onto the hatch lip or boot lid with straps as I used on my hatchback Escort XR3i with spoiler and other booted cars back in the day? Even had one on my escort Cosworth with that big spoiler and my old MGB (over that natty little suitcase rack on the boot lid)!
They are cheap to buy and some can take 3 or more cycles and are available from most car accessory shops or the net, even seen them in Aldi.

Would this be allowed by MG or diminish the warranty?

I have ordered the MG5 and now already disappointed about the roof rails fiasco.

No idea if it affects the warranty, but I do it. I have the "Peruzzo Pure Instinct", which carries 2 e-bikes.
Managed to wire in a relay for a light board too. It doesn't obscure the license plate, but it does partially block the lights.

Hi
I have seen those on the net but don't they need a tow ball to rest on?

I think they do a couple of different models. I got mine from DriveDen.

It looks like this:

Don't have a picture of it on the MG though, only my other car - wanted 1 rack that would do both cars!
