For the MG4 , what it did not say, if the MG UK website is to believed : its now a LFP battery and produces around 10 BHP less than the out going NMC version . And it is now heavier than the NMC 77 kwh extended range version . Download the brochure.

You mean the xpower now uses an lfp?

No it doesn't.

Premium LR = 64kWh LFP
Premium ER = 77kWh NMC
XPower = 64kWh NMC

LFP can't shift electrons quick enough to support the dual motor power requirements of the XPower. :)

I think LiFePO4 chemistry can actually discharge at a higher C rate than NMC. Their flatter voltage curve should also helps sudden discharge applications. They are, of course, heavier per kWh than the equivalent NMC cells; which is why many manufacturers prefer NMC - but BYD seem happy using LFP on high performance models.
