Am hoping to collect my GT next week. Is there anything I need to look out for when collecting, any common issues other than checking for bodywork and alloy damage?

Apparently one of the first things they do is a software upgrade.

Has the rear speaker issue (not working) been resolved?

Check the alignment of the charger cover on some cars it does not sit correctly. It is easy to see in the wing mirror when sitting in the drivers seat.

Floor Mats - some dealers provide some don’t.

Does your dealer offer tyre and wheel insurance? The tyres are super expensive.

Thanks, they do offer tyre and wheel insurance, I usually buy these separately rather than from the dealer.

A couple of things you might want to ask them to ensure they do:

1. Reset the service monitor, if it has taken a while for the car to arrive, then you may have lost several days on the 1 year service interval, also, mine had less than 7,000 miles to the next service, and yet the service interval should be 15,000.

2. Update software to latest version. It seems dealerships are reluctant to embark on a software update as they seem to have to take the risk of it failing. In my case I was handed the car with “Entertainment system” software ending in R28 on 28 May 2025 (although they stated that they would update the software during the pre delivery inspection, I don’t believe R28 was the latest version in UK on 27 May 2025), this had some bugs and on insisting that the software be updated, on 17 June 2025 they took the car in for a “while you wait” slot to update it. It took them about 3 hours with the update failing to install several times. Putting the 12v battery in charge, using an external charger, seemed to help and the software was updated to R34. This solved the freezing satnav when travelling above 55mph with “dead reckoning” on.

3. Check the Cyberster badge on the tailgate, the “b” and “t” letters have flimsy parts which can easily break if caught by a sponge while cleaning.

I appreciate that I might be a bit late with this, but it might help others who are about to collect theirs.

Just a word of warning if you rebadge. The dealer damaged the paintwork (😡) when it debagged my new car, I spotted it when I picked up my car and they are arranging for a repair. Very sloppy and I suspect they do not do much debadging on MGs but inexcusable.

Thank you. I saw your post a couple of days ago and so checked carefully when collecting our Cyberster today, only to discover that the 't' is broken. I then checked the display model in the showroom and that has a broken 'b'. They will be in touch when the new badge has arrived.

I had the SW updated on the whole car (apparently lots of SW to update) on Monday. It took them a whole day to do it. I could see from app notifications that it impacted airbags, alarm, brakes and a few other things. They said the car had not been set up for pre-delivery properly (different dealer). I specifically asked for R34 of entertainment SW and when I got it back it was still R28. I was told that R34 is not available in the UK and there is no way for them to download it - this was actually the main reason why I wanted it updating. However, the car has now developed a habit of displaying sat nav and performance in km rather than miles. Even if you change it in the settings to miles, it resets to km the next time you start the car. Has to go back in for an investigation as MG customer service don’t know what is wrong either.
