Does a type 2 charger come with the car? (UK)

Hi all, I've heard that the car doesn't come with a type 2 cable? is this true and if so, where do people recommend I buy one from?

Do you mean an actual charger, or just a type 2 cable? Some people have got the latter because of particular circumstances, but in general no.

I bought the one the dealer sold me as an extra but I'm sure I could have got a better deal elsewhere.

I picked my brand new Trophy ER up from the dealer today, and was surprised to find both Granny and Type 2 leads in the boot.

Been told mine will come with a Type 2 lead and on the basis that, generally speaking, dealers appear to include the granny by default anyway am expecting both. Few days wait to find out!

Lease cars tend to come with both. Not sure about PCP. Cash sales/other finance tend to only come with one ... the granny lead in my case.

I agree, personal purchase PCP/Cash/Finance generally only comes with 1 cable from the majority of comments I have seen over the years.
Personally my PCP purchase came with a granny lead.
Purchased the Type2 MG from the dealer at the same time, just so it could be bundled into the finance. Could have got a little cheaper elsewhere - but at least it comes in a nice bag.

Also to note (not that it matters for the current MG4) but the MG Type 2 Cable is only single phase... so if planning on keeping and using on a different car in the future, that has 3phase charging, the cable won't be up to scatch.

Mine was a cash purchase, and came with both leads, each in their own bags with MG logo. There was no mention of the Type 2 by the dealer, so I wasn't expecting it; found it in the boot when I got home.

I'm on PCP and mine only came with a Granny cable. Luckily I already have a Type 2 cable for our Ionic.

Mine arrived today on a lease, came with granny and type 2 cables.

from a dealer view, the new cars only arrive with the granny charger, some dealers will add the type 2 into the deal etc,

There was about 6 months or so when cars came with the type 2 cable as there was a shortage of the granny chargers but that was over a year ago now

It was the same with some of the early deliveries in 2022, as I recall. Fortunately mine came with the granny lead. (As they tend to be more expensive to buy 3rd party than Type 2 leads).
