eCall - SOS Emergency Assistance? UK TCLR

I accidentally pushed the eCall button in the front overhead panel and after a few bleeps up came a message saying not working or similar due to signal strength. I was near a phone mast and had a full house of connection status.
Does anyone know if this is a useful feature or one for the back burner?

That’s what I thought but I touched it and it didn’t work!

I've had a couple of occasions where mine dropped out of service but it came back again.
If you press it accidentally you can cancel the call before anything happens but you need to be quick.

Don't remember getting this on the Gen 1 model though ??.
