IM5
Hi
Well, I've had my IM5 now for over two months now and I'm very happy with it. It has taken that time to get used to it!
I've tried to record the mileage & energy used.
It's a shame the car doesn't record all this - my previous car the PHEV Prius recorded soooo much.
Never mind, I've set up a spreadsheet on my phone for miles, kWh and cost. Then each month I'll do an efficiency calculation. I only charge at home and only for the 5 hrs @ 8.5p/kWh on Octopus Go!
So far November ♑ is 4.1 and December same.
I've driven all the time in comfort mode. I've only tried the sport & eco briefly. Will experiment with these modes next year.

Which IM5 do you have? I'm guessing not the Performance one with those figures.

I'm on 3.1 - (long range version). I tend to drive very carefully Read slowly) so expected better. Is this due to cold weather since I only got the car a week ago?

Yes I expect so. When we did a lot of long distance driving - in all that ghastly wet weather, it was lights on, ac on hearing on etc we got about 3.2

So I have about 3000km up so far in a mixture of very hot & sunny (35C+) and milder (25-30C) overcast/wet weather for an all up average of 3.3 miles/kW in my LR. This is mostly short urban driving; overall less than I was expecting.

This is probably noted elsewhere but the efficiency on the dashboard does not include the power for a/c and ‘EA’ - electronic accessories - that you can see under the ‘MyCar’ App on the command screen. On hot days the a/c can be >10% of the total consumption and EA is often 5-8%…

I’ve got the Standard Range version and, with the current cold weather in the UK, I’m seeing around 2.5 – 2.9 m/kW with normal city driving.

Motorway driving doesn’t seem much better either. Just before temperatures dropped below zero, I did a 100-mile round trip on the M25 and M40 with ACC set to 65 - 70 mph, and that still came out at about 2.9.

I get that, given the weight of the car, lower efficiency in cold weather is to be expected, but I was hoping for slightly better results. As it stands, it’s not a huge improvement over the Gen 2 LEAF it replaced.

I find that a bit surprising. Are you in power or comfort mode?. I've taken to recording the energy supplied & miles driven on a spreadsheet. As I just charge to top up. So far November & December have returned over 4 miles/kWh which I'm happy with. At the end of the day, does it really matter? With over 400 miles to use & all that power etc I'm more than happy. Be interesting to see how the summer fares. Should be able to solar charge the car too 😎

Seems lower than I would expect. I have the IM6 LR and with my short journeys atm (circa 20miles which are always less efficient) I get 3+. That is in comfort mode and AC in auto.

You should be happy both :)
First 500 miles so far mixed city and motorway driving and I am getting 2.0 to 2.2 m/kw lol.
Ok the weather is not great but still.
IM6 launch continuously on ECO. Besides yesterday and this morning (snow).

200-220 mile range, hopefully it improves! I'm not getting far off that in my 58kwh Born, with similar driving (180-194 miles)

I'v been in comfort this whole time.

Im might try and switch to eco for a bit and see if it makes a difference. Does anyone know how to make that option stick between restarts as I have just tried and its reverted back to comfort again.

They always reset to Comfort. However, changing by voice command is very easy. That said, it is the way you drive and the weather that will have by far the greatest effect on efficiency. I could get the same efficiency in sport as in normal in my Ioniq 5.

I cannot drive any smoother that I do at the moment. Continuously in ECO, no sudden braking or acceleration.
It is a combination of weather and weight. 2.5tn is a lot to move around.
Furthermore when I swap from Comfort to ECO the guessometer goes up for at least 10 miles. How true this is though I do not know ;)

As I think you are aware, it is just a guess.

I’ve been getting ~3.3 on my IM5 LR (comfort mode, a/c on!). Interestingly I did an ‘equalisation’ charge on the weekend and have been do a lot (for me) of running about in the subsequent days - I’m now seeing 3.7 (and am a lot happier with that).

Nothings obviously changed in weather/driving/traffic; I can see how the battery capacity estimate might change but not the consumption???

It has been mentioned elsewhere that the consumption data shown does not include that used for AC.

Oh can you make it do an equalisation charge?
