So as that stands the gas for me has gone up say 30%.... and the electric has gone up on the peak rate over double... another say 30% on the off peak rate

Yes I have, a simple one for comparing tariffs totals based on usage. I have attached it for anyone who wants it.
You need to know your annual usage in kWh for Elec and Gas and the standing Charge (SC) for the tariffs. It will show you total cost for each and a grand total. You can also add in cheapo rate overnight usage based again on annual usage.
Copy and paste whole rows to add more comparisons.

I received an email from Octopus yesterday saying my SMETS1 had been updated to be able to be read by them. Just after I had arranged for a SMETS2 to be fitted later this month.

Thanks for that, it will come in really useful when the electric companies decide to give quotes again! The company I was with went under and the impending price increase in April will put me on a tariff that is 154% more than I was paying so the spreadsheet should assist with my decision making.

So neither of those are the Go tariff. The first is Flexible Octopus and the second is Octopus 10M Fixed, as you say.

Go is the EV tariff which gives you a cheaper window overnight.

If you aren't already an Octopus customer you may need to go onto a regular tariff for a month before switching to Go - I remember some palaver like that when I switched from Agile to Go.

My daughter is with Octopus and suggested I switch to them but when I went on line it would not do any quotes for me and when I phoned them they said that they do not recommend that I move from EDF at the moment and were very reluctant to do a quote. I cannot even get EDF to give me a quote and we get our second MG EV on Monday!

Did you specifically ask to go onto the go tariff?

I know someone in work who switched to them last week as they received their EV a few weeks ago. They wouldn't let him switch until he had his car though, had to provide details of it.

I may have got someone who was not fully up to speed on EV charging etc. Thinking about it, I may have called them before my charger was installed! I will try again next week. I have solar panels so it may be better for me to charge around mid day so that I make maximum use of the electricity I generate and as I only had my charger installed a couple of weeks ago I can monitor how often I need to charge and how many KWh's I am using. Neither of us commute so we may be better off with the lower day time rate. We shall see, I can use the spreadsheet to see what it is costing me and compare it with what it would have cost using the night time rate etc. They reckon it will increase again in September so I doubt there will be any good deals until then if any happen at all.

EDF charging from midnight to 5 am at 4.58p kWh and although daytime cost goes up my solar panels are free. I receive 17.8p kWh for electricity back into the grid. Leaving 13p approximately profit. My tariff is coming near to an end so the tariff will obviously go up but it is definitely worth looking at this solution.

I am with EDF and the increased cost during daytime compared to the amount of kwh's I would need works out more expensive than charging on the normal tariff whenever I need to. Sadly the really good EV tariffs have disappeared for the time being at least.
