Energy efficiency in ACC?

Update...
Just returned from Wales using only my right foot to moderate the power. Arrived with 31% SOC and showing 85 miles of remaining range. Weather was 8-14 ° but very windy. Even including an 8-10 mile detour on the outward journey, that is a significant gain.
My verdict...humans are more efficient than the version of ACC on a 2024 MG ZS LR.
Would this convince me to never use ACC...no, but I do not feel it will ever be my default option. I do strongly feel that those little incremental gains from regen during the journey do add up though.

That's interesting Ian. I've found the opposite, but it will vary per journey depending on road type, length of journey, traffic conditions, terrain etc. Interesting to hear your thoughts.

My efficiency showed an improvement of 0.3 miles per kWh WHEN USING ACC. But going the other way against the wind might have shown the opposite. Coming back I didn't use ACC because I came back a completely different way going cross country on back roads where using ACC wasn't really a good idea.

I always used the "cause control" on my old diesel car, I found it a lot more efficient so I started to use it on my ZS but since I found out that it didn't regenerate I stopped.
That was at least 18 months ago.
Another thing that put me off was it was quite aggressive. I tend to accelerate slowly but in Cruise control the car seems to accelerate up and then if it gets close to another car it brakes, it does find a balance eventually but I still found it a bit too aggressive.

Can anyone shed any light on whether it is more or less officient to use ACC, especially for a longish (over 100 miles) journey?
ZsEV 2024 model does not use regen with ACC. So assuming you drive comparatively the same, it’s more efficient without ACC.
Saying that, ACC uses brakes, and will keep the discs clean ready for those Emergency stops.
