Entertainment unit auto dimming

How do I get the auto dimming button on the screen to stay. Sometimes its their and seems to work, but other times, stops working, so I swipe the screen down but the auto button is no longer there.

Thought I'd gone crazy! I've definitely seen it there once and never again.

Adding to this that I’ve also seen it once or twice and enabled it, but then it disappears and the screen brightness never auto-adjusts!

Switchimg on car light dims my screen. I did not notice there is such auto dim button.
