Hi all , apologies if I'm repeating old threads but the ones I've looked at are from 2023 and as we know technology marches on.
Leasing a MGs5 due in 6 weeks so chasing up costs and advice on home chargers, untethered to use Scottish powers EV tariff..
Latest offer from EV heroes is£969 for an EclipseEc7s but have read a few write ups and it's not great. Ohme sounds good but
likes the octopus provider. Hypervolt home 3 pro looks good and I'm awaiting a quote . Any advice appreciated ,cheers

I've had no trouble with my Cord Zero (through Halfords).

I love the look of the Simpson & Partners chargers and the fact that you can change components to match your wall. They can work out expensive if you go for the top options though.

My original charger was a dumb box and for the upgrade I went for an Evec VEC01 because I'm too tight to pay for looks :)

I have the Hypervolt home pro 3 with Octopus and car is charging now having driven back Halifax to Salisbury today down M1, A43, M40, A34, A303, and A343. Topped car up at Brackley over lunch. I’ve had no problems and it works great with Octopus intelligent Go. It has some interesting options like LED colours, brightness and several themed modes like Party, Halloween, and Christmas. Very happy with it. Can switch the LED off if you want to avoid attracting attention.

It's really worth trying Granny first. She serves me perfectly well, for my lifestyle.

I have seven hours of 6.7p, and that gives me 30%.

Even though I do a lot of V2L, and some days cost more than 30%, I still catch up at 30% per night and it's fine.

I pay under 2p per mile. It really works for me...🤷🏻‍♂️

[edited to add that my maximum charge is 90%, I often don't make it, but it allows masses of slack, and if I have a consumptive couple of days, it recovers over the next couple of days.]

{Further edited to add that in 4000 miles and doing all my cooking, laundry and space heating on V2L, I have never once used anything 'cept Granny. I love Granny!}

I wish I'd have got a hypervolt. Works with Octopus Intelligent and looks good.

If you have patchy WiFi to wherever it is going to be then consider the Ohme as I think they work on mobile network rather than WiFi.

I'm using Indra with solar feed-through which had been easy to set up and use. Even yesterday I managed 8.4kW free from surplus solar charge.
