New car/First post!
Have just bought a 2022 MG HS+EV and loving it! But can I safely use an extension cable to connect the charger set that came with the car to a normal Australian household plug to charge the car's main battery (the one that powers the car's electric motor)? Maybe I have to use a special MG extension lead? Or an extension cable I can buy from a nromal hardware store? Or an extension cable of a particular thickness? Any advice gratefully received. Thank you in advance. Tom

Yes you can. The domestic mains power supply in Australia is 240V AC, 50Hz. Standard 3-pin earthed power outlets are rated at 10 amps, so as long as your extension cord can handle 10 amps there's no problem. I'm in Australia too and have been doing that for over a year. The extension cord does get warm though but not hot. I'd recommend a heavy duty extension cord, not a cheap K-Mart one.

Thank you ronmaz - that's really useful.

This company: Tough Leads
is my go to supplier in the UK. No use to you in OZ but it does give you an idea of what specialist suppliers are supplying to the EV market. I’d guess there are equivalent suppliers in all countries you can locate with a google search.
