Fast chargers M4 Wales

Have a trip to Cardiff on Saturday, can anyone recommend a fast charger between Severn Bridge and J.30 M4? Preferably Electoverse friendly!

The are 6 Ionity 350 kW close to Magor services ( I think Junction 23 A ), 16 stalls 160 kW at the Welcome Break services ( Junction 30 )

I used the Tesla ones at Celtic Manor. A little off the motorway but they were cheaper than the electroverse ones.

On another occasion I went to the Tesla centre in North Cardiff. Even further from the motorway but there are supermarkets and a pub not far away.

In your other post, I just mentioned the Tesla superchargers in Bristol that are open to all. There are 3 locations in total, with 2 at Cribbs Causeway close to M4/M5 interchange.

There are Ionity chargers just off the Chippenham junction of M4, and more in Bristol just off M32 next to Ikea. You could use Electroverse with those

I've got 2 . Don't use them much my regular charging posts are cheaper with Bonnet/Ovo . Though my Electroverse app has got a charge button on it

In 4000 miles I only fast charged my 5 twice and that was the same trip. It’ll take me a good while to use up the £300 credit, and I only pay about £18 pcm via IOG. Bit of a waste really

Just drive for the hell of it .It won't take long to use up £300 on Ionity

In fact I don’t like the EV mentality that we must achieve high 3’s mpkWh when we are saving soooooo much on a daily basis. When I were a lad running a V8 SD1 PFL auto, I didn’t bat an eyelid at 15mpg. We’ve been drummed into thinking we must now get 45-50 on petrol or 50-60 on Derv (who remembers when the pumps said derv on them??!), yet even a mashed XP on IOG will be doing equivalent £-£ of 200mpg!!!

You probably fast charge most of the time, but rarely rapid charge.

Pulled into McDonalds Newport off J24. Faff of a junction to navigate! Two bays, one ICED out, standard bays with zero hatchings so bloody cramped. It didn’t fire up so got out of there. Now at Cardiff Services Applegreen and all is very good. Actually a very good location, quite shady and peaceful, protected by ANPR so no hoggers, plenty of bays and Electroverse app kicked in very nicely. Recommended
