Hi all,

Yesterday I had a sudden issue with my car. 05:30am no issue whatsoever, parked up at work. 13:00 get in it and get about 10 warning messages one after another, firstly all radar based systems unavailable then TC, SC, Hill descent control, Hill hold assist and Auto Hold. Turned it off and back on again and all still there. Start driving and the steering feels horrible around the centre and pulls strongly to the left. As a reminder it drive perfectly straight before.

My first instinct is a flat tyre so I stopped to inspect but no. Then I’m thinking did someone hit me whilst parked but no damaged and my dash cam didn’t pick up anything.

I work only a few miles from MG so as it was quite a severe issue I drive there. They agreed it shouldn’t be driven but couldn’t provide any transport so had to get someone to collect me and leave it with them. They did say they’d try and have a look yesterday afternoon.

At 4pm I called them and they said they found a faulty relay which they replaced and it cleared the faults but they can’t see any issue with the steering and I need to take the car and pay to have tracking done myself.

Obviously I wasn’t happy with this, they basically fixed half the problem. They said they can’t fix something that they can’t see an issue for and tracking isn’t covered under warranty.

My point was that tracking doesn’t go severely out without either a serious provocation (being hit or hitting something) or a mechanical issue. And the fact I had multiple warning lights at the same time indicates an issue.

We went back and forth a few times and eventually they said they’d get someone else to inspect it, in my opinion there will be an issue with the steering rack or associated items which may not be visible with a quick inspection.

All in all I’m pretty annoyed about how it’s been handled so far, I don’t see how they can fix one part of the issue then bat the other half back to the customer. It’s like they don’t believe me when I say it was driving perfectly straight before the warning lights came on.

Has anyone had or heard of anything similar?

Just had a call from dealership and a 2nd technician has “apparently” took a second look at it and come to the same conclusion that it needs the tracking doing and they don’t do it nor is it covered under warranty.

No idea how tracking can go from being perfectly straight to way out whilst sat in a car park whilst also being accompanied by a whole host of warning lights and it not being an issue and not covered under warranty.

I’ve now got to fetch my 2 year vehicle that’s not driving properly from a main dealer as they can’t fix it.

Pathetic really but I guess this is where they save the money.
