First long road trip and other adventures.

I remember stopping to charge at the Rheged Centre on the way to Halifax. I was pretty sure I had taken on enough charge to get there. But then ABRP insisted that I had to take the M62 and stop somewhere for another half-hour charge. Nothing I could do would change its mind.

In the end I had to trust to my own calculations. I turned off on to the A65 and got there with 20% in the tank.

Thanks, Gomev.

I was wondering. Sadly I forgot to make a note of the mileage (I usually do on all road trips), but looking at the route on GM, it was a total of 121 miles, M62/M1 there and M1/A628 home. We started on 100% and returned on 36%.

Due to the bad weather, Mrs didn't hoof it, so I'd have expected better "consumption".

The A65 is quite an economical section, obviously of course due to the slower speeds. :D It's really the only sensible choice when intending to travel between the M6 and West Yorkshire.

I have always gone that way, even in my petrol cars. I know it takes longer but I'm always fed up belting down the motorway by then, and before Google maps and Android Auto I was worried about losing my way among all these motorways. Also, I could never really stomach burning all that extra petrol.

Now with an EV the motorway route would mandate an extra charging stop so it's a complete no-brainer. I don't know what ABRP was smoking that day.

Maybe this is where we go wrong...

We use the M-ways just like we did when we had the Honda.
Same here, but I never used the M62 to head north on the M6 travelling from Leeds. As @Rolfe says a complete no-brainer.
From Leeds to the junction of the A65/M6 there is a difference of about 38 miles (64 - 102) more if using the M62 and at higher speed (sometimes) so less efficient.

From Leeds it's easy to go anywhere via motorway, it's a massive motorway junction, M1 south, M62 east and west and A1M north.

It's a similar thing between my home and Glasgow. About 50 miles by the A721 and about 60 miles by the M8. Due to the higher motorway speeds it's even stevens on time unless the traffic is bad on the A720 section. Sometimes Google maps wants me to go the longer route if it thinks it's a minute or two quicker, but I never do. It's very boring barrelling along the M8 past Livingston, and you waste a ridiculous amount of fuel, petrol or electricity.
