Six weeks into S5 ownership and following on from FL5SE and 4XP I’m very happy.
First full trip down to Cornwall, three adults, dog and a boot full, brimmed the tank at home.
200 miles to the first charge stop as planned, motorway all the way, GOM gave 319 at the start, got there with 37% left! Still using the £600 Octopus credit I received with the 4XP so a free trip. Plugged into a 300 charger because it was there and filled up at 139k as booked. Averaged 4.1 mpkwh. I’ll add I cruised at 62/65 mph not for economy, I always drive at that speed on motorways on a long run, so much less stressful and let the others go steaming by. You’ll be surprised how many times you get passed by the same cars on a long run..
One happy bunny. And best looking MG yet imho..

I removed the shelf and floor, bought a great boot liner from Amazon so it protects everything. Vast amount of boot space, still carried the T2 lead. Only issue is the dog blanket slides around on the Trophy seats so will get a tie on seat cover.
The ACC and TJA did brilliantly on the inevitable M5 log jam, and I left the pilot in full safety mode - I usually set my custom nanny free option but on a run I felt reassured I had the protection of it all, wasn’t intrusive.
Weirdly on this trip not only did I see no other S5s as is still normal, but I saw hardly any SAIC MGs of any EV/ice type!

Rattled up 500-odd miles over the weekend, charged 3 times at total of £75 and need to top up now I’m home. Averaged 4.0mpkwh.
Fag Packet maths: £80/500 = 16p/mile. Comparable to 40mpg ICE so bearable enough.
As stated it’s actually free electric from Electroverse, I’ll never use that £300 credit at home so I’ve plenty of long trips left to use. I won’t really hammer the £300 Octopus home account credit I received either!

With my overnight tariff, I'm running at 1.5p per mile!
Me too, Octopus IOG, rarely go far in the car but good to know I can do it at reasonable cost. 1200 miles in with a healthy mix of driving and consistently getting 280 miles per tank so I’m very happy. The 5SE was around 3.8 average, the XPower much lower around 3.1, the S5 is consistently high 4’s and even into the 5’s locally.
