First rapid charge

Went for my first rapid charge today, at Moto services Rugby. Arrived with 22% and it took 30min to get to 81% peaking at 62kw. Was pleased to see 11 out of 12 EH and 4 Tesla chargers in use. Good experience all round ,hopefully that will become the norm.

Welcome to the club. Only recently had my ZS EV and yes things can only get better For all EV owners.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. However, if you’d done it in December, as we did, then the experience would be very different as the batteries are colder. Our first rapid charge saw a peak charge rate of 22kW. I gave up after 15 mins and went to another one where we got 28kW! I contacted InstaVolt & was advised that it’s the car that sets the charge rate, with battery temperature being a major factor. Just take note, as it WILL happen to you, and if you aren’t expecting it the it will be a bit of a surprise. The temperature at the time was around zero, things only seem to be “normal” when it’s 8 or so - so this is a very real issue. Cheers - Rob

62kW is very good, I've never seen mine get that high.

62kWh is about as good as it gets from around 20% SOC.
