Fitted Dash cam MG4

Hi,
Just fitted a dash cam to my LR MG4. Bought a power adapter cable from China (not sure if I can post link ?) and a 12v to 5v from Amazon. The power adapter cable comes with a round small 8pin which I cut off to reveal 2 wires (red/black) connected to 12v to 5v and checked power to dashcam. Boom, works a treat.
A few photos attached to show connection.
Dashcam will auto switch on when car opened and switches off when locked.

How did you get the cable through to the dashcam? I’ve tried and the gap is too tight at the windscreen?

Hi,
Hi fed the USB-C cable through the headliner. There is room. The 12V - 5V stepdown; fits snuggly in the roof space.

Managed it with the help of a flexible ruler. Thanks for the info

Hi, since I've fitted my dashcam, it's worked flawlessly. Even after a new windscreen fitted recently.

Thank you for the update, my dash cam is mini usb so ill have to alter yours slightly I think

Yeah, my step down was with usb c, just buy one with mini usb

currently my cable is routed round the car but I do plan on doing this still at some point. I want to make it a female usb at the end tho so then its future proof if I upgrade dash cams, I can just get a very short usb to mini usb or type or whatever it ends up being

What does it plug into in the headliner trim?? Had no idea you could do this so routed round the car…

I believe it takes power from the rain detector of the car, well it doesn't take power more like using an extension lead on it.
