Wanted to go to our local automated car was today but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fold in the wing mirrors without locking the car since it needs to be in neutral with no parking break whilst in the car wash. Anyone shed any light on how to do this? I've spent hours now googling this without luck.

You can also push them by hand to fold and pull back to open again
As one who is having issues with the passenger side mirror not folding in on locking on occasions so much so my dealer has ordered a new mirror to sort it I'd be hesitant in folding manually, just wondered why you'd do that?

only If the mirror fails to fold and you really need it folded for whatever reason.

I tried manually folding the non folded passenger side and it was not happy, might of course be linked to the issue I’m having, I’ll stick to the open and closing the door a few times.

All mirrors have this breakaway "feature" for when you hit something, the mirror folds instead of breaking the mechanism so as long as you don't go overboard folding by hand, it should be OK for when it's really needed. In your case, yes, it's under warranty so let them get you a new one... (as long as they match the paint 😅).

From other MG forums and my other cars, most of the time lubricating with the correct (was it silicone?) lubricant sorts it out. It could also be a loose connection somewhere...

Silicon grease would be my preference.
