It's from old hot metal typography when a lower case p and a q could easily be confused when read in reverse while type was being set.

This forum is pretty placid. But I get smacked around left, right and centre on the Daily Fail when promoting EVs, renewables etc. Most on there are permanently enraged about EVs.
