Front electronic vent

I was just topping the washer fluid up, when I heard the front grill electric vent opening and closing constantly. I’ve noticed this in the car but obviously much louder when stood in front of the car.
Why would it need to do this, especially when the ambient temp is about 1degree!
Apart from using valuable volts the motor is getting excessive constant use for no apparent reason.
Has anyone else commented on this before?

Mine only really opens when I run the A/C. But it just opens once, then closes after the A/C turns off.

If it constantly opens and closes there may be a faulty sensor somewhere?
