Front USB ports

I think the USB port is 20w (10v @ 2 amps) so that should be more than enough but I guess you could be right, the cabin camera add-on might be demanding too much power. I charged it up last night so I'll check it later and see if it works then.
USB ports are always 5Volts.

The 'mirror' ports are 2A, so 10W.

The rear port (back seats) is 3A, so 15W.

This info is from the User Manual. I hope this helps.

Hi all,
Quick update. I tried the 522GW without the cabin camera and I placed it in the car with 1-2 bars showing on the battery. After a minute or two the dash cam was screaming again claiming 'low battery' and turned off, all while connected to the mirror usb port. I fully charged the DC again and placed it in the car for a 10-15 minute drive. By the end of the drive it had turned off again. Bearing in mind we don't do many journeys, certainly not long ones, and the internal battery seems to disappear quicker than an open tube of Pringles, I'm beginning to wonder if it was a mistake spending so much on a DC that is draining/failing quicker than it gets used. Or, have I got a dud DC and need to contact Nextbase? 🤔

You webcam does seem hungry for power!

You could experiment with a longer lead just to establish that the webcam does work with another socket, or with a PowerBank, if you have one.

But do you need this particular webcam?

Truthfully l don't think I needed such a feature packed DC but one I had in the past was so atrocious you could barely make out anything on the recording, let alone a car and it's numberplate. I guess I went for a reasonable spec model that was well reviewed. Had I known the mirror port wasn't going to be powerful enough for the DC and the cabin camera add-on I certainly wouldn't have bothered getting it. I can be bothered to hard wire it in or feed a cable around the windscreen down into the 12v socket, the provision of the mirror usb port is the only real reason I considered getting one. I'll try connecting another gadget to the usb port just to make sure it works, maybe that's the issue 🤷🏻‍♂️

You can buy a usb tester quite cheaply, that shows you the voltage and current etc being pulled by a device. My own set up is two cameras fed off the same usb as yours and it has no power issues at all.
