I attended the Everything Electric Show today.

I spoke to Octopus and Givenergy representatives about the fact that the Givenergy Charger isn't yet integrated with Octopus Intelligent Go.

I was hoping that they would indicate a date in the coming months when it would be sorted.

The bad news for those in my boat is that they both blamed each other for the lack of progress, so that is not promising.

The Octopus guy said that Givenergy had to do something to get it all working.

The Givenergy guy said that Octopus had everything they needed because it is open API, but their Kraken system wasn't set up for it. Possibly because they can't deal with the fact that there is both a battery and EV charger option.

Octopus guy suggested I go for agile, Givenergy guy suggested I go for Tomato energy (though he was sticking with Octopus).

Anyway, thought I would share my depressing intel.!

If you only charge up overnight OIG rates are 7p from 11:30-5:30 irrespective, however, you will miss out on cheaper charging rates throughout the day which to be honest I only use by default if I plug the car in when I get home (5:30pm) these charge times are typically about 30mins long

Unintelligent GO is more expensive 8.5p/kWh and you only get five hours overnight, not 6 (plus any extra required to get to your target amount).

It isn't the end of the world to be on regular Go instead.

However, it makes me wish I'd gone with the Hypervolt charger rather than assuming that Givenergy EVSE integration was coming soon.
