Global software update for the MG3 hybrid+ is coming...

What about battery deployement and recharge etc ?
when does the engine kick in to recharge the battery ? how far does it charge before switching off ? what about enginee revs ? Do you feel the engine is switching on more than before ?
An y idea what version you have ?
they are all relevant to your driving style and can not be measured as an all out across the board result.... the engine switching fro EV to HEV is now after update non existent in noticeability... the revs can be adjusted by just either dropping your cruise by one mile an hour and then uppin git again or just a light lift off of your foot and the revs will go down... but then the whole point of this car is that you get EV a chunk of the time.

I would say why are you worrying about it, just enjoy the car.....

I am at a loss as to why people constantly go on about it, everything the car does is normal, and other hybrids do exactly the same, so just get in, belt up, and enjoy !

Mine is not bad, it's just a bit embarassing as I arrive at my house, which is on a hill, at about 5mph, the engine is reving at 2000rpm, like a granny slipping her clutch :)

Not sure why you are saying this, just pushing on the accelerator will make the car go faster, even with this issue, there must be something other than the known issue at play, as there is no way it should be doing that..... the update has been out for a few weeks now, so get it booked in, all under warranty, so no cost... in fact it took an hour and 15 minutes for the update and cost the dealer lots of money, we drank about £80 worth of their coffee, and very nice it was too.. LOL...

Why am I saying this ? because I'm basically pulling up infront of my gate at 5mph with the engine reving around 2200rpm

Anyone know where to find the version my car has ? I don't want to go to the dealer only to be told I have the latest version already, the car is only 3 weeks old, but I don't know when it was made, it does have the split rear seats and rake steering adjust.

the over revving is part of the car, it is charging the battery, all self charging hybrids do that.

The dealer should know if you have the update or not, just ask them, but to be honest I would probably say not, as the update has only just been released your car was likely on the way way before that was completed... it will not stop the over revving, it just makes it a better car... !

Reading your posts jonboy it does sound as if your car doesn't suffer the same problem that a lot of us have. I know hybrids are supposed to rev, that is how they charge the battery, and yes a little high rev every now and again can help with longer EV mode. However my car often revs to 4600rpm while going up a slight slope, when I already have 70% battery, and I'm only doing 20mph. Lifting the accelerator a fraction does reduce the rev a little, but the moment I press it again the revs instantly increase back to very high. The most dangerous bit is that it sometimes over revs to 3000rpm going downhill, without using the accelerator, giving me 100% battery thus turning off the regen, which makes the car feel as if it accelerates!

I do enjoy my car, but having your car rev at over 4000rpm as you pull into a parking space on a slight hill with people around thinking you can't use gears properly is quite embarrassing!

You clearly have more issues than everyone else, as I have never ever heard of a car revving at 4,000 as you want to park. And if you have read any of my other posts then you know I did have the same issues, yes mine does rev to 4,000, but a quick release of the accelerator or drop down a mile on cruise and it goes down to 2,000 or less, and generally stays there. can you advise how you know what % you have on your battery as there is no way of getting that on my car, and even the dealer says there is no real way to know how much is in the battery.

Revving whilst going up a slope is normal, and in every case, when you put your foot on the brake the revs drop if yours is not then you have some serious issues with your car, either stp driving it and get taken to a dealer or speak to the ASAP. as clearly you are driving a car that is NOT fit for being on the road.

My issues have been stated in many threads on this forum, and yes it has been into the garage many times, 16 days so far, although most of that is to try to fix the Sat Nav problem of often showing a previous location until I start moving after switching it on. The original software I had just suffered the problem of losing power while going up a long fast hill once the battery had reached a low level. Apparently the car prioritised charging the battery over powering the wheels. The version they installed sadly suffers the issues a lot of people have mentioned across this forum. My car does reduce revs when I release the accelerator a little bit, but as I said instantly increases once I put my foot down a little bit again. The upside is that my MPG has greatly improved as the balance between EV and HEV is better as obviously the high revs charge the battery more....sometimes too much as you lose regen!

As to not knowing how to see battery percentage, I'm surprised you cant work that out. Ok, it doesn't give me an exact amount, hence why I aways give a figure rounded to 10, but if you put the engine flow screen up, the battery icon is divided into 10. One block per 10%. Not too hard really to work out percentage roughly.

WOW Rude, I "cant work it out" I do spend all day fiddling with the settings, it was set up initially, to my settings and thats where it gets left.... I am sorry your car does not perform like everyone elses, but since the update, I have had NO issues. The car performs way better than before.

Actually I was wrong as the battery icon is divided into 8 not 10. Still gives a rough idea though. As to setting it up, its one of the many things you can select to see using the button on the steering wheel, such as "From Start" etc etc.

Sorry you took offence but none was meant by me saying I was surprised you hadn't worked that out. I was just surprised you hadn't found that bit.

Also, my car doesn't perform different to "everyone" else's. That is why there are so many threads and posts on this forum about this issue, and why this thread alone was made. My original reply to you was that you kept saying "just enjoy the car, its doing what a hybrid does" For lots of us that isn't the issue completely. I'm happy you have the correct update now, perhaps that will follow the rest of us soon.

Anyway, moving on, does anyone know when the proposed global "fix-all" update is coming? Or is it still a rumour? I'm seriously trying to get my dealer to reinstall the software I had at the start!

I've recently had a first service, but there was no mention of a software update. I'm not sure I actually want to be updated, mine runs perfectly well as is. Great little car. Aitch

DONT CHANGE IT Aitch!!!!! If yours is running well, keep with the one you have! I wish I hadn't changed to cure a small problem (for me) and created a big problem!
