Well yes sun was out but by the time I finished car was in the shade and looking shiny, washing is therapy to me, oh and I was enjoying an afternoon tipple, never ever drink and drive, washing and drinking, that’s perfectly ok.

All this talk and photos of glorious sunshine, when at the other (northern) end of Queensland they are suffering a cyclone that was category 5 just before it made landfall as a category 4.

That's our sunshine you're basking in!

Edit: It's down to a category 2 cyclone now, but expected to grow back to category 3 as it traverses the Gulf of Carpentaria.

There are a couple I go to that employ local labour and seem legit, but it's difficult to know. There are another couple I have doubts about.

Exactly, this is the problem, who is legit and who isn't. This extends beyond hand car wash places, so where do you draw the line ? What services do you deny yourself of in case it's not legit.

Being paid cash-in-hand, not declaring it for income tax and/or NI is, in my mind, "up to no good"

Well I've never even heard of let alone paid a tradesman working cash in hand !!

Think a lot of things in life are not totally legit. Even large firms, if you wanted to dig deep enough. But certainly small businesses. Like Hand car washes, Tanning Salons, Barbers, Vape shop's, etc
Have certainly seen, a big rise I recent years. But doesn't mean, they ain't legit.
Or mostly, legit.

Paid loads of Tradesmen cash in hand, I usually ask them, cash or card. As long as I get a good job done, it doesn't bother me. Why would it.

Heavy Dew this morning, so quick wipe over, with a bit of Turtle Wax, Wax it Wet and using Autoglym Instadry (brilliant).
Took about 15 minutes.
Hey presto, looking good again.

Finally got round to giving mine a proper wash i.e. snow foam, jet wash, bucket and noodle sponge, jet wash and finally a dry with a large microfiber towel then tyre dressing but forgot the Aqua wax. Might correct that tomorrow if it's covered with dew in the morning.
