Not an MG
Our time with the MG4 is coming to a close, end of the PCP in June and it's being handed back to the finance company. Already replaced with a Tesla M3 LR RWD.

Loved the car, a great drive and comfy. The software has been less enjoyable and as for LKA 🤬

Thanks to all for a great forum and owner group.

We only picked it up last Saturday, so not had a chance to push the range at all. We do have a trip to Devon planned this weekend which will be the first opportunity to test range. At 125 miles each way we had to top up get home in the MG4, the M3 should be able to do the return easily.

Initial impressions are good, software is intuitive and works well. I have set Lane Assist to warn only and it retains that setting. Driver profiles are already proving a boon, the lack of stalks has proved to be a non-issue, even for my wife who was dreading that aspect!

The biggest let down is auto-steer which is very poor, mind you MG's is no better. ProPilot in my previous Leaf was better than both.

For the MG4 we used my wife's Qashqai as the deposit on a 2yr 0% PCP deal and paid £150pm. That was a very poor financial decision on our part with used values plummeting and the balloon payment being far greater than the Trophy's value at 2yrs old.

For the Tesla we've gone PCH and are paying less per month than the MG4 if you take into account the deposits. There's no option to purchase of course but then PCP makes zero sense in the current climate and we'll see where we are at the end of three years with this one 🤞🏻

How does the driving compare. I love the MG4's driving and have tried other cars. I found the old model Y way too hard a ride. Tell us what you have found.

It's definitely a firmer ride (I had the earlier version MG4 with the 17" wheels) whereas I specified the 19" option but it's not uncomfortably firmer. I suspect the difference is a mix of slightly firmer suspension and bigger wheels. Would be interesting to hear what someone coming from an MG4 with 18's to an M3 with the standard 18's thought.

I’ve recently gone from a 4 ER with 18” wheels to a Tesla M3 with 18” wheels. Same width/aspect ratio tyres too incidentally.
Tesla feels heavier on the steering (even on the light setting) the ride suggests the car itself may be heavier. Corner roll (or lack thereof) similar, Seating position is lower, more like a typical exec saloon.
Software is a different world, lots of really clever, well thought out stuff and it all works perfectly.
I prefer the way the Tesla drives, but my wife prefers how the MG drove, she preferred the upright seating position and light steering.
The MG drove fine to me though. I just needed some form of infrastructure if things were to go wrong…

Nice looking Tesla, mine's a darker red. Here's my thoughts (we have an MG4 and a Model Y Performance).

For me, the steering on the MG is far too light, even on it's heaviest setting, so if you got used to that, the Tesla will feel heavy.

My Tesla's ride is extremely harsh, but that's probably due to the huge uberturbine wheels. The MG has a far more forgiving ride and is much easier to handle in tight spaces. It feels more agile than the Tesla too but the seats in the Tesla are far more comfortable and it's easier to find a good driving position - there's something strange about the MG, the pedals feel too high to me and I'm forever fiddling about with the seat and wheel positions.

There's no comparison at all wrt the software. Constant OTA updates keep the Tesla working exactly as you'd expect, with one glaring exception. Something MG falls down on IMO. The only software issue I have with the Tesla is those awful indicator controls - even with stalks they're a pain, sometimes refusing to cancel at all.

You just can't beat the ease of charging a Tesla at a supercharger. Just reverse up to the charger, plug in and... That's it.

Horse for courses I suppose. I think the Tesla is a better car overall but the MG is a lot more fun to drive, and, in my case, half the price.
