So after 17 months of ownership we're about to sell our Cyberster Trophy in exchange for another EV. I thought it was worth summarising the good, the bad, and the terrible.
Starting with the good
Starting with the good
- A unique car that gets a lot of attention. Numerous times I've had Porsche drivers flash their headlights at me!
- Great open top cruiser. For the driving we do, cruising along A-roads with the roof down has been a joy.
- Great driving position, with a seat that I could drive for hours in without discomfort.
- Great fun to drive.
- Good range. We never used more than 73% of charge on a trip, and averaged 3.2 mi/kWh across the 17 months.
- The 70mm Ground Clearance at the front has been a real limiter for us when visiting forest car parks, etc. It's this that triggered us to consider changing cars.
- The doors are just too unreliable when wet, which is all too often. Poor sensor placement for a wet climate.
- The poor rear suspension control is a bit worrying on the undulating roads.
- The dealer network
- Having to get the car serviced at the Nissan garage because the MG dealer don't have a maintenance facility is a first.
- The terrible parking at the dealer, with dozens of Nissans, Kias, and MGs cluttering up the parking with nowhere for customers to park.
- The technicians poor knowledge of the car, how to do a software update, or even reset the service indicator.
- I really got the feeling this was a Kia & Nissan garage, with MG as an afterthought.
