Well, after a year I’ve managed to curb my alloys in a tight car park exit.

Has anyone had theirs repaired before? (I’ve not repaired any wheels before).

Are the Cyberster ones (GT) diamond cut that’s going to be a pain to do?
 
Unfortunately I did one a few months ago (my fault). We have wheel and tyre insurance when we bought the car and the repair has been done. If you know where you can just about spot it but no one will see unless they try hard.
 
I also sustained rim damage on the shiny part of the wheel. I asked various companies how to fix this. They all came up with the same solution: the entire rim has to be machined down on a special lathe. A pricey job. I have now started sanding and polishing away the damage (not extensive) myself.
 
The problem is that they don’t know whether their rim has sustained further damage. The rim can quickly become warped, meaning it no longer runs true. You might not necessarily notice this, but the tyre will then wear unevenly around the circumference, and slight vibrations will put strain on the shock absorbers and bearings. There’s a good reason why a repair is so expensive – because more than just the appearance is checked!

This isn’t ideal as we don’t get a spare tyre with the car, and leaving the car jacked up for a week and off the road makes me nervous.

The cost to repair is about the price of a service, so not horrific but not very cheap either.

The main issue for me is having the car off the road for a week so I’ll need to continue to look for alternative solutions (as I really don’t want to leave a pristine car damaged for no reason)

I have had Diamond cut alloy wheels repaired in the past and a 2 day job if I recall.
