Handbrake

so I was popping down to the shops, reversing out of the drive while putting on the seat belt as I do, backing out of the car space at the shops doing the same and I noticed the handbrake would not come off till I had fully put the seatbelt on and clipped. Is this normal, if it is why does it not do it from a cold start-up so to speak.

My cat has a habit of going under the car as I am reversing out at home when its raining so I open the door to keep an eye on her but the brake comes on, so now I have to put her in the hall , reverse out then let her out

Well I’ve learnt something new here ?. The ZS is certainly has some very odd characteristics.

Well, I've tried it three-time, and if you don't click the seat belt, the brake doesn't come off, which is quite a cool point but why not on the first say drive of the day
