Have you noticed fuel prices going up

Looked just now at one near my Ma.

What is in Premium Diesel that is so much better than the normal stuff to justify the additional 20p/ltr?
Those prices are just astronomical, they'd start fire bombing the fuel industry headquarters over here if the tried to pull a stunt like that ......

The price and availability of both food and anything stocked on shelves will really suffer with insane fuel pricing like that ....

Good question and I've asked myself the same question for a different reason.

My fixed energy tariff ends in November but I can change to a different 12 month fixed tariff with the same supplier with no penalty anytime. Do I wait until November and take a chance the energy price cap goes down, bearing in mind there's a good chance it will go up in July when the next review is due? Or do I fix it now for 12 months but at a slightly higher rate than I'm currently paying with a good chance that if I wait until November it could be a lot higher?
Price cap will go up in July, that was forecast even before the idiot started playing war. As the cap is based on the previous 3 months then likely to go up some. Probably same for October review.
Fixes are based on future predictions, so a bit harder to predict.....usually.

AI suggests:
Premium diesel is a high-quality diesel fuel that contains additional additives, such as detergents and lubricity improvers, which enhance engine performance, fuel efficiency, and reduce wear on engine components. It typically offers benefits like cleaner combustion and better cold-weather performance compared to standard diesel.

Premium Diesel!!!!!! Never heard of it, only ever seen Diesel. Sounds like a ripoff bigtime.
Really? Shell V-Power Diesel is available throughout Germany 🤷‍♀️

Shell V-Power Diesel
€2.469/L

But, yes. it is a ripoff!

I used to put a tankful in of the premium diesel once a year into my 2.0 Focus a couple of weeks before its MOT was due just to clear out the DPF filter and make sure it passed the emissions test.

Probably was a waste of money but it never failed the test

A bottle of metho (basically ethanol) in a tank full of diesel will reduce the smoke, clean out the DPF and clean up and waxing in the diesel ...... an old trick for getting smoky diesels cleared over the Roads and Traffic inspection. It creates a faster hotter burn on each combustion cycle

I used to put the odd gallon of diesel in my Renault Clio van but mostly ran it on the cheapest cooking oil I could find in a supermarket. The van actually seemed to run much more smoothly on it - I’m guessing it was a vegetarian 😂😂

The early diesel engines would run on anything that would ignite under enough pressure, the Sulzer marine diesel in a lot of coastal run cargo shipping run on bunker oil, like a blue jelly at room temperature, 2 stroke with a blower to push the waste gasses out of the combustion chamber at the bottom of the piston stroke, 19th century tech but still going strong ..... just slow

Passed a couple of petrol stations, smug grin becoming unbearable. Once of them had a short queue. I wonder if people think it's going up even more, or if they're actually worried about not being able to get any at any price?

I remember the 1970s and my dad sleeping in the car queuing for petrol, half of buses cancelled and low gas pressure (we had coal)

I gave up on heating oil after several bitterly cold winters 2008-2011 and huge oil price spikes, up from 30p to £1.50 per litre, so I switched to renewables.

Iran, Iraq, whatever, oil dependency on dodgy countries = inevitable cost spikes, corruption, bribery and high "protection" costs.

Not relied on oil for years, never really lived in a house with gas.

Have I noticed fuel price rises? Oh yeah! Made my day to see the natural justice payback from charging EVs road tax, 3p/mile and cutting fuel duty. Well deserved.
