We have a mk1 Excite but we're missing having heated mirrors on these damp mornings.
Has anyone retro fitted heated mirrors?

I'd expect the loom to be std and have the connectors in place and a missing fuse maybe.
So in theory replace the glass, plug it in and pop in the fuse.
Can't seem to find a reference to anyone having done it though.
Cheers

Were you thinking about switching out the both mirrors on the excite, for mirrors from the exclusive model ?.
A much more involved and expensive process.
Our just trying to get the mirror heating working, somehow I guess ?.
Not sure with the MG mirrors, but with the VW models, the glass comes bonded to a heated backing plate, that then clips into the mirror housing and they are not cheap at about £45 each !.
Likely they will require relay in the fuse box, I doubt it will already be there, worth checking.
If I remember correctly, the heated mirrors are activated by the HRW switch, is it the same switch or will it require an upgrade ( compare part numbers at the dealership ).
Less assume the excite is equipped with a common wiring loom here as well 🤞.
A trip to the dealers spares department is the order of the day I think 🤔.

Therein lies the initial research o_O just on the off-chance someone has already done this before a PITA trip to the dealer (not local)
My hope is:
  1. Same loom - if not then the whole idea is moot.
  2. just replace glass/backplates, feed cable & plug into loom
  3. Install fuse / relay as required, not expected to be there.
  4. Good call on possibility of different switch.
Even if this rolls in at about £150 all up it'll be worth it. When we bought the car (v low mileage 2nd hand) we did look at the higher spec but there was so much useless tat included at the cost of many extra thousands that we stayed basic.

Not sure if this helps.
Could this kit be adapted in some way to fit on your car ?.
It would be a cheap fix if it would 🤞.
