Hi all, I have a pre-facelift MG5 21 plate, I’ve owned the car for around 3 years, most of my charging through this time has been done via a granny charger plugged in through my window. For the last few days the car no longer charges on the granny charger, it locks, engages and then after 10 seconds drops off and says ‘connected - not charging’. I’ve tried a second granny charger and different sockets but still nothing. For a period today it was in a cycle where it would start charging, drop off, start charging, drop off but never for long. It works on a rapid charger up the road and I haven’t yet had time to try it on a fast charger. I’ve it booked into the garage in a few days for a separate issue (the heating has packed up) and will see if they can diagnose this too but wanted to see if anyone had any advice first!

Many thanks!

It's worth checking on a type2 EVSE before it goes in. Has anyone else tried their car on your granny EVSE?

wonder if the two problems are in some way linked
I wonder too. There could be intermittent electrical leakage from the heater to chassis, which might cause charging to stop. But I would have thought that if an electrical leakage was detected, the car would throw up a High Voltage Isolation fault, and not allow driving at all. Maybe the heater fault is somehow disturbing the battery voltage as seen by the Combined Charger unit (CCU, the on board charger).

But now that I think about it, it seems less likely.

Yeh I’m not sure if it’s linked or not, I guess it could be, but it drives fine and has no other error messages etc. everything else works, just no heating or AC charging!
