Help- Software update

Hi guys,
I've got a 24 reg LR Trophy (UK) but it's still running the R40 software.
Would you say its worth updating as I've not run into any major issues so far?

I had loads of issues when on R40, and the R63 fix really made a difference. Far less display crashes, error messages, bluetooth dropouts, losing radio presets and the like so I would definitely recommend getting the update. …and the service update for the LKA makes a huge difference, so no need to keep turning it off anymore. That should be applied when the car goes in for R63 (or anything else)

If you've got no issues then no need to update at all. I designed and developed software for decades and stability was always the aim. Chasing the 'highest' software release if you have stability can often lead to instability. Leave well alone if you don't have any issues.

I had an MG4 ER from last December until a couple of weeks ago when I traded it in for a Tesla M3.

I have a 24 Trophy Extended that came with R40.

I managed to get the dealer install the SC077 update, they were not keen to say the least, and i updated Infotainment to R59 myself and I'm now very happy with the car.

I didn't have many issues with R40, usual odd bluetooth repair and odd slow boot but that's about it. I only put R59 on as the wife still hates LKA and wanted and easy way to turn it off. IMO LKA is fine now and I don't bother to turn it off.

It might be my imagination but I think R59 audio sound is also improved over R40 but too be honest there isn't much difference between 40 and 59.

I might try R63 one day if I'm brave enough to risk doing a SIPS update myself.

I own a 1 year old MG4 Trophy ER just had a service.
Had a problem with the greeting wrong location wrong date could not switch it off. They sorted that shut it off. Radio used to switch off when going through my village whilst on DAB now sorted. Phone used to drop out now sorted. Cruise control now can be changed in One Mile increments. The car seem a bit nippier not my imagination. Free wash. £177 : 00 bit steep for what they do. Copious amounts of hot chocolate nothing but praise for Ancaster Dartford PS you lose all you favourites during updates
On another matter as I have changed my email address I have had to re-register can the powers to be sort out how to change this as I am not a novice.?

The latest software version for the Entertainment System (aka Infotainment) ends in R63 but unless you have a problem with the version of the software you have the dealer isn't paid by MG to update it.

This doesn't mean they haven't updated all the other software modules that require updating but it's quite difficult to access these. There are threads on this forum on how to do it at your own risk.

My advice is if your car operates satisfactorily then it doesn't matter what versions of the software are installed, they work together so just enjoy the car.

Cruising along at 55mph on motorway today suddenly the car violently started to slow down the CC had turned off I am phoning the dealer tomorrow I would like to be armed with some ammunition?

On your infotainment screen swipe left to the extra menus, select settings, scroll down to system and you'll see the software version.
I just got R63 and the SC077 when my car was serviced today. Haven't driven it far though but it seems to be improved. My LKA is just set to off by default now. Not sure if that's a mistake, but I'm happy with that.

Edit: Lane assist enables again on start up and was just as annoying as before the update. I had to set it to low and it seems to be a bit better now.
On R63 I haven't found any other changes except it's a bit more responsive and boots up faster.

More than a bit steep, I think! I had my first service at Spirit Corby and was charged less than a hundred pounds, including a free wash and interior clean.
