⚖️ Value Analysis

  • 2021 (71 reg) — £11,450, 20k miles
    • Newest car, lowest mileage.
    • Will have the most warranty left.
    • Likely best long-term reliability (battery degradation slower at 20k vs 66k).
      – Most expensive (£2.8k–£2.7k more).
  • 2020 (70 reg) — £8,705, 66k miles
    • Cheapest upfront.
    • Same spec (pan roof, ACC, AEB, sat nav, etc.).
      – High mileage for an EV of this age, so more wear & tear + potential faster battery degradation.
      – Shortest remaining warranty time.
  • 2020 (20 reg) — £9,638, 48k miles
    • Middle ground: still cheaper than the 2021, but much lower mileage than the 66k car.
    • Full feature set same as others.
      – About £1k more than the 70-plate, but ~18k fewer miles — arguably better value.

I would not go for the most expensive one, not worth it. Warranty is not 7 years on everything, just the battery. Also, my ZS Mk2 is coming up to 60K, drives just fine and the battery seems perfectly fine. I would try to get the cheapest one even cheaper if you can but I would avoid buying privately.

Confused about whether you are buying an MG5EV or MGZSEV?
In your other thread you say you are buying an MG5.
I was considering MG 5 but moved to MGMGZSEV

As the MG Zs would be my first EV car i was nervous re faults and hidden issues.
You have kindly re assured me to go with the cheapest, and put the extra £2700 to one side for if it is needed (more likely towards a solar panels set upwith EV charger).

Have a good day. You have started mine well. Thank you

Agreed if you read the MG warranty it isn't a cover for every thing. Good luck.
A home charge point gets you 7p /kWh energy from Octopus. That costs c £1k. Payback of about 2 years.

Any warranty remaining on any of these cars, will only be valid IF the car is holding a FULL service history remember !.

That is not true.
We tell us then Alb rather than saying its not true.
I think the warranty is also on body corrosion, but hey it's the same as most other manufactures. I'd also be looking at the Trophy Long Range as comes in at about the same price.

This is no different to any other manufactures warranty really, as to compile with the T&C's of that warranty, the car will need to be presented for service at the laid down schedule set out by that manufacturer.
Of course you can choose to disregard this advice and totally skip them, but be aware that if you DO need to make a sizeable claim under that warranty, then be prepared to have the claim firmly rejected.
Thats not to say the claim maybe rejected on other grounds of course, but without the service history 100% in tact, then you are purely pushing the reject button.

You just need to read the warranty statement as posted by Clive :)
Many owners do have difficulty getting their heads around the way it's worded but it's a simple premise. Everything is covered other than those items listed under Exceptions.
As an example, I had a parking sensor replaced (under warranty) on my MG5 when the car was just coming up to 4 years old. No quibble, just done without fuss.
