How do we know actual travel range/ petrol left in the tank

I have taken my new MG HS PHEV. while taking, it was showing petrol 205 miles and EV 70 miles. I drove in EV mode for 60miles later found showing 199miles in petrol and 21miles battery left. Today I have changed from EV mode to HEV mode. No change in Battery state but petrol range drop down to 140 miles but I have travelled only 28 miles. As dash board shows strange no140, how can we know actual cruise range left?

Can charge at public charging point using type2 cable came with car? what capacity of charging point I have to use?

yeah is very misleading when both electric and fuel full mine says range is about 550 miles or something petrol - as I assume they think you will use electric, then when it gets low maybe after abother 75 miles you will charge so will keep giving you 150 miles for 75 miles worth of petrol. ? One thing I have noted is there is no way whatsoever it is worth topping up the electirc at the meters etc. in my area think minimum seems to be about 60 p per kwh - which with that being about 3 miles per kwh is about 20 p per kwh - I believe petrol cost is only about 12 p per mile so defo do not charge the battery whilst out and about ? Unless anyone can suggest otherwise ?
