I recently posted about the emission warning light has come, after reading several posts this is a common issue, I tried the recommendation regarding the filler cap unfortunately but no joy, contacted local MG and it’s booked in for Wednesday, however the said it is safe to drive as the
symbol wasn’t flashing or red, no real problem, one of those things.
This morning I took it for a very short drive when a warning message “hybrid fault” )or similar can’t remember) shortly after the car went into
“limp mode” and then failed completely, no traction at all.
I called the AA, they did the usual diagnostics and apparently cleared the faults, the mechanic then did a short test and it went straight back into limp mode, put on a low loader and taken to MG dealership, he said he heard a loud ”squeak“ from underneath, awaiting their report,
So disappointed, fingers crossed it’s nothing serious.

Keep us updated.

After the vehicle examination by the MG dealership the engineers concluded it was a faulty EGR valve and a part was required.
The car has now been returned to the dealer where it was purchased and a full refund has been agreed.

That's a good result in this case @Lespresso, will you have another MG ?
No, unfortunately I have had the misfortune to have had too may issues with the brand over the years, I have owned the MG3, 4, 5 ZS and the ZS hybrid,
MG have produced some nice, well equipped and good looking cars under SIACC ownership, it’s a shame the don’t invest more in quality control and testing vehicles prior to launch,
I’m sure there are and will be many totally satisfied customers but not me.

Thanks for the info myZS hybrid went into limp mode today after me turning it over due to the engine emission light being on. Local dealership couldn’t get me in until the first week in December. Currently awaiting aa assistnace

That’s not good, the MG dealer replaced a faulty unit but couldn’t identify why the car went into limp mode, I didn’t have the confidence with the car,
I was in the fortunate situation where I could reject the car under the consumer rights act.

Yeah. It ideal recovered to my driveway just been into the dealership today, long story short they were very helpful and apologetic and wanted it in asap. Being recovered tomorrow to the garage will see how it goes from there. Will be wanting answers even if repair is possible as you have stated the concern of it returning isn’t ideal you want full confidence in the vehicle.

Be interesting to see the outcome, initially the MG dealer said they would have to order an EGR valve and take about 4 weeks, however, after several conversations with MG they managed to courier on next day, I have to give credit to the dealer for this, as previously mentioned, the part resolved the emission warning but could offer no explanation as to the “total traction failure”that was worrisome.

Indeed! Well I’m currently waiting on a recovery escort the garage is only 2.5miles and I’m to drive it there with the escort if it makes it without help ill
Be surprised can already feel it struggling while it’s de-misting also a strong eggy/sulphur smell coming from the vehicle will keep the thread updated.
