Hi Folks,
I recently purchased a 2026 MG HS PHEV.
And during a viewing at the dealership I didn't clock the fact it didn't have a CD player.
No problem thought I. I'll use my trusty 12yr old USB flash drive instead.
But unfortunately that didn't go well!
It initially worked fine, in that the infotainment screen showed the tracks being scanned (i.e. counted in)
But after 1 track played & I turned off the ignition. The next time I used the car I got an error message saying that the USB flash drive wasn't detected.
Massively long story short & after much messing about. I discovered that the car didn't like my old USB 2.0 device.
However, an upgrade to a USB 3.1 flash drive has kinda solved the problem.
I say "kinda" because I thought it still wasn't working? But all I/you need to do is wait for the car to scan the contents of the flash drive every time you use the car before it'll start playing the music.
That's varying degrees of annoying depending on how much music you have on the drive?
Mine doesn't work for the first 90 seconds or so. Then it eventually kicks in.
Hopefully that's helpful? Because it had me pulling my hair out!
