Hello everyone,
I tried to search the forum for a similar problem but couldn't find a working solution.
I bought a used MG4 yesterday and tried to factory reset it today to get access to the app connection, as the previous owner had not removed their account. Everything was working fine, until the configuration menu asks me for a place of sale. When I pick a country, the screen goes blank and unresponsive. I can still see the side menus and even access the AC settings from the top, but the configuration doesn't proceed, nor can i go to the menus on the side.
I'm losing my mind. I've tried selecting different countries but the outcome remains the same. I tried accessing the settings again from the side drag-down menu and do another reset only to be faced with the same issue.
I was loving the car until now, having such a silly problem make almost the entire menu unusable is ridiculous.
Is my only option trying to find a time to go to a dealer?

Never heard of this happening ever before to be honest - Dealer might need to reflash the infotainment software

What year is it?
Never seen it ask that but only have experience with the 2022-2024 version
It's a 2022

That's a real bummer, will try to contact our dealer in the hopes they've met this problem before.

Doesn't matter if they had this before. With reflashing its like a new unit - so if there is no physical damage to the module this should fix it pretty quickly

Restart again, do not set up anything, just choose English for language and place of use, refuse privacy settings etc., and it'll work.
Got the same thing sometimes after a factory reset and this is how I get away with this fail.

I have not heard that doing a factory reset unbinds the car.

Search for 'Forced unbind' and you will find a thread in the ZS forum but it is applicable to the MG4.
Thank you for the advice, the factory reset didn't fully unbind the previous user but it did allow us to try the connenct which started a 72 hour timer for the previous owner. We couldn't do it form user -profile as the car kept trying to connect to the previous user.

This worked! Thank you so much! It didn't even ask for a place of sale this time, after refusing it jumped straight to picking a timezone and boom, worked again.
I feel extremely silly for not even trying to skip the online functions setup etc.Now i'll be wiser for next time this might happen.
Thank you again!

It's ok, we all learn together, glad I could help.

And for unbinding, you have to force bind and wait 72h yes, the car is connected to MG iSMART account through VIN, so after a reset, you just need to connect and nobody can access to yours datas.

Another way is to contact MG dealer with car papers (or iSMART team through mail) and they'll unbind the car shortly.
