Here in New Zealand we have a supplier who not only has an off peak (9pm to 7am) rate of 10c or around 5p, but carries your home rate on to the biggest charging supplier out on the road. FYI, I drive 2001 MG ZS EV. Bought in January 2022 it has done over 11,000 km and been charged more than 100 times since then. Still like new.

As a matter of interest, how is most power generated in NZ?

We have used hydro and geothermal (steam) for decades. Wind is now playing a big part as well. When necessary, coal is fired up to meet demand. Northern regions use private solar panels successfully to reduce reliance on the power company. From memory, in New Zealand over 80% is generated using renewable sources.

Wow those rates are nice.

Here public fast chargers (100KWh ++) is usually £0,69 per KWh.

Those prices makes it not economical to drive an EV, compared to a newer petrol or diesel car, even though those prices has also risen in the last months.

Now, our government, that has been blowing the horn for everyone to go electric, are talking about lowering the taxes on petrol and diesel, making it TOTALLY uneconomical to drive EV, because they do not lower the tax on electricity.

But then again....95%+ drive petrol and diesel, and we have an election coming up in the next 9 months.

When we near an election, all of the "Go green" is just dumped on the floor, if they need to do so, to be re-elected.
