Intelligent battery heating on S5

I always control scheduled charging from the app, and have never selected the battery heating option. Today, I was messing around with the in-car menus and I see that 'intelligent battery heating' is selected ON in the battery charging settings.
I've read through several threads about this on the pages regarding earlier MG models, and there appears to be a fair bit of criticism about how much power this absorbs etc. So does anyone here have experience of this regarding the S5? And any idea if leaving it turned ON in the car overrides the app setting.
It's not been particularly cold yet so I wonder at what temp it 'intelligently' activates.

Not a daft question more like no-one else has tried it or realised it might be switched on by default.

I'd have thought the car would have mirrored the app.

Says it activates at -10c on the menu screen. So almost never in the uk.

Intelligent battery heating in the mg4 used more power than any benefit it provided over normal day to day journeys in colder temps

Its main purpose is to pre-heat the battery for DC rapid charging in low temps. It also improves driving capability (not range). It will 100% reduce your range. Only way around this is to preheat while charging if you can be bothered to work that out lol.
