Interior light issue

Hi all. I've just got my mg zs ev. Love most things about the car(looks just like the qashqai I got rid of) I've noticed when driving at night in the over head mirror housing is a very dim white light. Small but very annoying as I like it to be as dark as possible (inside!!) Is it possible to turn this little light off somehow?

I'm not sure why they have it, the MG4 (and my previous Golf) are the same. A small piece of black insulating tape is the best plan I think!
