The upgraded model will be brighter.
Or even the type that have all the LEDs (e.g. 8 small ones) facing forwards. The ones with 4/5 LEDs facing sideways are actually typically less bright for interior lamps, as they usually have no or little reflector to angle the sideways light forwards.

These are the ones I got: -
They're really bright and came in a box of 4, which suited our two MG4s just fine:)
10 does seem a little excessive!

@JanS I used a small screwdriver to pop open the interior lamp cover, but a hard plastic tool is "preferred" in case you manage to break the plastic cover with the metal screwdriver. I didn't!

There's a youtube video showing how it's done: -

Did mine recently, managed to push a bit hard and the socket popped out into the back of the housing.

Solution if this happens, or just do this to make the whole job less stressful; open the glasses holder, two Phillips head screws there, remove these and then the whole assembly pops loose from the roof. You can then push the socket back into place and hold it there whilst you seat the new bulb. Simples! Then just replace the housing, tighten the screws ... job done.

When I did mine, before I put the LED lamps in, I lined the housing with aluminium foil tape as a reflector. It helps a lot and now the front of the cabin is well lit.
The built in "Slow Dim" feature doesn’t work now, because that relied on the filament lamp's characteristics. The LED lamps just flicker for a second or so.

If you want to light up the back seat area (that black hole behind the front seats ;)), have a look at these links. MG4 Rear Passenger Light and MG4 Rear Passenger Light Holder.
I've fitted them in my MG4 and they work well. (y) :)
