Intermittent problems with Android Auto

So ive had the car for a little while now and since day 1 ive had intermittent problems with Android Auto disconnecting/crashing.
Im actually not quite sure whether the problem is with the infotainment system or my phone (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra)..

So what happens is that the music will sometimes stutter (and if im looking at google maps i will see that this stutters as well), this is very intermittent but it kinda seems like it happens more at the start of a drive and less so after ive driven a while?
Apart from the stuttering i sometimes also see AA crashing (dissapears from infotainment, AA icon on infotainmentscreen goes grey) It usually picks up again after 10-60 secs but a couple of times ive gotten a message box on the infotainment telling me that it could not find any android auto to connect to.

I did some googling around the problem about a week ago and one tip that i picked up was to make sure that android auto was not being affected by battery saving. I went through all the settings on the phone and let AA use all the battery it wants as well as setting it to never sleep/deep sleep.
I also tried removing the phone case as i thought maybe it was dampening the signal too much, but there's been no change.
I spoke to my uncle who drives an MG4 (i think) and hes had a lot of issues with AA there but a recent software update on the car fixed it for him i think..

Ive used spotify on my phone with BT connection in my old car (no AA) and never had any issues there, so if its the phone then i think its the AA software stack and not BT itself at least..

I wonder, do anyone else here with an MGS5 experience the same issues? Any tips or tricks i can do to make this work more consistently?
I have had this issue with the Sony Experia 5 V ..... I have found the issue is when the phone is over heating and the phones storage is almost full. (rebooting the phone helped to stabilze for short periods)
I have recently upgraded by SD Card (which may not be possible with S24) and freed up space on the phone and all has been stabilzed.

Yeah this is not what is happening in my case at least.

I have sinced also switched phone from Samsung S24 Ultra to S25 Ultra, and the issue persists at the exact same geographic locations.
Im pretty sure its down to external radio noise now, possibly because of inadequate transmitter power or receiver sensitivity in the car, or external equipment being out of spec disturbing other things like my car..

Has anyone tried using an AA dongle? Does it work when the car has AA itself?

Good evening to all - had my S5 for three days, and guess what.....I am experiencing exactly the same issues with phone calls!!!!! Glad it's not just me, and glad I found this thread...

I'm so pleased that so far, the phone settings are remembered each day - no need to reconnect my Bluetooth connection every other day like I did with the MG4. But, the calls keep dropping out as described here in earlier posts. Like the OP, I have a Samsung S24 too.....
At the dealership, we paired the phone to the car - no problem. Tapped on the AA button and it connected straight away.
Now when I start the car, the AA sat nav comes on straight away - I don't have to tap the AA button at all. Wouldn't mind if the phone calls didn't drop out.....
I like the AA sat nav - I'm assuming it's using my phone's data and not the 1gig car data.....??
But I'd like to be able to specify when I want the AA to be available.....in other words, not have the AA engage straight away on start up.
My feeling is that the calls drop out due to conflict between the S5 phone software and the AA connection.
Any further thoughts or reactions welcome!

Correct about using your phone's data. If you download the maps in the Google Maps app to your phone you won't be using any of your phone's mobile data apart from traffic updates.

I turn the car's Bluetooth off to stop AA starting every time I get in the car and turn it back on again via the pull down screen when I want it.

Within your Android phone bluetooth settings you can disable the call and media option for the MG bluetooth connection. This may help stabilse your call issues.

I've never used AA before, so forgive the basic question....are these settings on phone or accessed in the car??
