Is this my antenna?

Hi - is this my antenna? I'm trying to get better AM radio reception (Australia) so am trying to find my antenna - is this it? if so what do I do with it? and where does it connect to my radio? thanks for any advice

I assume it is, but personally I wouldn't be playing with it.

If you want to experiment, you could try loosely coupling a bigger antenna, just wind a few turns of wire around that protrusion connect one end to the body, and stick the other end in the air. Polarity will be important, ie which end goes to the body and which to antenna, or which way you wind the wire. One way will add to the existing antenna the other will subtract.
You'll probably need to tune it by altering the number of turns and changing how tightly it's wound,
But how you can organize a successful experiment to be drive-able is another matter.
