[ Moderator: I've merged several threads into this one. Please use this thread for all iSmart 2.0.x related issues, otherwise we end up with dozens of threads all saying the same thing. Please also read this thread first before posting. ]

I picked up my new 2023 model MG5 Trophy LR a week ago.

I am still unable to bind it to the i-smart app (one of the reasons I went for the Trophy). I have downloaded the app onto my Samsung Galaxy S20 and accessed the screen in the car. I get as far as the QR code but it won't scan. I get a message "Not provided" in the top left hand corner of the car's central screen.

Is this a trip back to the dealer? Or, can anyone give me a magical fix??

Occasionally, if stationary, and I access my phone for any reason, the "Not provided" message appears and the radio or whatever goes off. Everything returns when the phone is not in use (it is still turned on though)!

I cant' help as a pre FL owner, but why don't they do this at handover ?

I seem to recall from previous chat that there is an alternative method to bind.......
 
Hi I had a similar problem about 2 months ago with my new MG5 SE. It was resolved by Emailg MG and turned out to be a problem their end with some vehicles left off their database. This was the reply:

Hi, I have a 2 month old MG5SE and had a similar problem to start with, now resolved. Have a read through my posts here towards the end, it may help.

It was an MG systems problem so try emailing MG as I did. Details in the post.👴

I cant' help as a pre FL owner, but why don't they do this at handover ?

I seem to recall from previous chat that there is an alternative method to bind.......
Was my own fault not checking on handover, so many other things to learn! I managed to finally get it working yesterday after an email to MG Helpdesk. They suggested that I do a factory reset of the FICM and gave me some instructions. Seems to be OK........At the moment!!

What is the MG Heldesk dear Podge and how can I access them? First I've heard of such.
 
Hellow again Podge - desperate to get in touch with MG Helpdesk (tho I see I spelled it Heldesk - maybe true?). And also these abbreviations: what is the FICM?
Hi, I have no idea what the acronym FICM actually stands for, I took it to mean the screen in the middle that shows the Infotainment, Nav etc. The help desk is actually "Customer Service" and the email is: [email protected].

Thanks Podge2207. I'll contact them when, inevitably, the MG dealer gives up ("If it's an app issue we can't help"). In all other respects I wouldn't change my ZS long range for anything except a Tesla. Dream on eh? FYI I do watch Tesla Porn on YouTube.

One man's porn is another man's.... The only thing I envy about Tesla's is their efficiency and the supercharger network of course. Cannot abide the minimalist interior and having to do everything via the screen (including opening the glove compartment I hear !!! That can't be right surely, that would be just plain daft ?)
 
Yes, there are some challenges but I'd get used to them if someone would buy me one - I'm not greedy - a LR Model Y would fit my lifestyle nicely ! Tesla are light years ahead of the rest and it shows. Dream on John . . . .

I appreciate that the app is somewhat buggy, but it also seems to lose settings - particularly the scheduled charge setting. I set it to come on overnight, and the next time that I look it's turned itself off and reset the times to their defaults. Does anyone know how to stop this happening, please?
 
Just updated the latest V2.0.1 doesn't seem to work now have rebineded the car but has no vehicle stats remaining all blank any ideas?
 
My new version says it isn't bound to the car but when I pull up the qr code on the car and scan it my phone says its already bound. I seem to be stuck in this loop and can't move on our get out of it. Have uninstall and reinstall the app to no avail. Any ideas?
 
There are quite a few post on this on other forums. Seems like the new app is a bit hit and miss.
I am logged in but cannot connect to the car at the moment. :-(
 
Same here, wished I’d looked on here first before doing the update, hopefully just teething troubles
 
Updated this morning too. Logged into the app, but it’s not getting the info from the car. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, signed in ok, but still no connection.
 
I have the same problem, my phone and car are binded but my phone does not receive any data from the car, it tells me that the remote control instruction has failed and to try again later.
