Hello,
I have checked the manual and can't find directions on how to bind my iSmart App to the Cyberster. The app is asking to access the link in the infotainment screen.

I don't tend to use the app much, but is it a new version? It logged me out and now it's an altered home screen and it's taking me a while trying to work out how to set the car charge with a different schedule!

Hi, slightly different problem but recently had the app disconnect me and couldn't re-bind. It doesn't mention this in the manual and dealer was clueless but you request to rebind and it assumes you are a new owner, wait 72 Hours and after 10 auto texts, that you ignore, you are able to rebind.

Regarding the iSMART app, I have not been able to connect to the car since yesterday evening (approx 1915 BST in UK). Does anyone else have the app replying “Vehicle Not Responded” when a refresh is actioned?

It also went offline for a period of time last week too. It was offline from 1201 BST 17August until 0055 20August but came back on its own.

Everything else appears correct in the car and app, so I am assuming it is the backend at MGs end. However, if no one else is experiencing this, then it will be my system.

I have just tested my app to the car and it works

Thank you for checking. So it must be something to do with this setup. My next thought is that the home assistant integration has interrogated the server too many times and it has been locked out for a while. I’ll wait and see how long it takes before it comes back online again.

So this seems to be the indicator that there is a problem with the car connecting to iSMART.

The telecommunication version is now blank, but it used to be populated.

Does anyone know how to “wake” this back up? Is it related to a fuse perhaps?

The car has not been responding to the iSMART app since Friday 22 August.

I suggest unbind the car and rebind it. If the car won't unbind follow the instructions to get into the engineering menu

On the top bar it says activation. If you reset the activation you can then rebind and resetup.

I did try a full factory reset, this unbound the car. I then rebound it ( the binding was successful) but the problem of the car not responding in iSMART remained.

The things I have tried (some of them multiple times) are:
1. Unbind from the app and rebind
2. Factory reset of the car in settings and then full set up.
3. Remove the battery negative lead for 30 seconds, then reconnect and setup (note that lots of systems appeared to fail after the battery was reconnected. They did recover after a short drive).
4. Hard reset of iphone
5. Delete and reinstall the app
6. Checked the internet connection in the car, which appears to work (proven by streaming from Amazon music, while the phone was not connected to the car)

I believe the telecommunication module has failed in the car, I come to this conclusion because in System, the “Telecommunication version” is blank and it used to read “1.04.001.z02”. Also, and I am aware that FOTA is not available, but, before when selecting “update”, it read “no updates found” or something similar, now it shows “other exceptions, please try again”

Has anyone else found that the telecommunication version is blank in settings?

I am contacting the dealership and will probably have to take the car to be fixed, I will update once I have a solution.

An update:
The dealerships service department have said that there are significant changes being made by MG regarding the telecoms of the cars. They tell me that other MG owners have also reported that the Telecommunication version has blanked and connection to the iSMART app has been lost.

The current advice is if/when this happens to your vehicle then wait until it resolves itself, the changes are being made in batches, so not all vehicles will be affected simultaneously. No timescale was available for how long it should take. We have agreed to review the situation in a week. I will aim to contact them again on 4th September. If it recovers by itself I will update here.

I remain sceptical too. If it is something to do with remote access to the car, and the car cannot communicate without the firmware present, then nothing is going to resolve itself.

The dealership gets one opportunity to fob me off with misinformation, then I don’t ever stand for it again. I will give them the weeks grace we agreed.

I have since downloaded the servicing and maintenance manual and found that the final check after any software service to the T-box is to see that the software version is showing. I do realise that I have been fobbed off by the dealership.
