Hi I recently bought a 2023 MGZS long range. I am trying to bind my phone/app to the car but it says its still registered to the previous owner ( I dont know who this is ). The app says it has sent a message to the number registered but I have not heard anything back yet. Is there any other way to reset the bind to my phone/app
 
That's worrying - presumably that means the previous owner can see where you are, where you've been etc. :eek:
 
You need to contact MG, provide them with evidence of ownership and they will unbind the car from the previous owners. This has come up a few times now, search the forum and other posts may contain the contact details.

Mods: Should this be a FAQ somewhere?

I would hope so, otherwise a thief could nick my keys, enter the car, unbind my phone and then the "tracking" feature would be disabled on my phone.

This is one of the nice features with a trackable car, it can be tracked in case of theft (Unless offcourse the thief has a GPS jammer, a GSM jammer, or know how to disconnect the telematics unit)


I can confirm that the unbind feature in the app works, when i reinstalled the MG ISmart app when we ordered a ZS EV, late december and i logged in, i was still bound to the ZS EV we owned in 2022, that was written off after 4 months.

I just selected to unbind and the car disappeared from the app.
 
Hi all, I had this issue when I first got my 2023 plate ZS EV. I factory reset the head unit, which in turn then brought up the QR code at the beginning of set up to bind the car. I was able to bind it to the app and since have had no issues. Maybe worth a try?
 
just email MG customer services and they will ask for registration papers and VIN, takes a few days but not a problem... read up other posts on binding and iSmart in the meantime.
