No, unfortunately the current model isn't compatible.

Even the new model only uses a cut down "lite" version without the full functionality.

wow that seems a strange thing to do.

Mainly because they are retrofitting the software to an existing model as part of a facelift and it is clearly not easy. But certainly disappointing.
